An inquest has been ruled unnecessary into the death of 5- year-old Gerald Bourgeois in a highway mishap near his home late Tuesday evening. The youngster was killed about 8:30 p.m., after being struck by a car operated by Garfield Wilson of Dorchester, on the Memramcook East Road about three quarters of a mile from the Trans Canada Highway.

Westmorland County Coroner. I.D. Shrieves of Sackville visited the scene, and decided an inquest would not be needed. A spokesman for the RCMP' said it appeared the youngster had been playing near the road, and ran in front of the oncoming vehicle.

The child is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Antoine Bourgeois of Memramcook East; one sister, Donne, at home; two brothers, Paul and Charles, both at home; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph LeBlanc, and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Edgar Bourgeois.

The body is resting at the Dupuis Funeral Home, Memramcook, from where the funeral will be held to Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes Church, Memramcook East at a time to be announced. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
